The Old Plains Wine Co. was established by Tim Freeland and Dom Torzi in 2002. Their driving ambition was to salvage some of the last remaining old vine vineyards in the Adelaide Plains region of South Australia. These vineyards were generally planted post WWII by Italian migrants and returned servicemen.

The vineyards survived intact until the mid ‘80’s when many were uprooted to make way for market gardens, almond orchards and housing.

Cabernet Shiraz

Deliciously outrageous. The nose is perfumed and complex, mixing blackberry, plums, dark fruits with spice, hints of mint and chocolate. The palate really sings, showing great intensity of fruit, plums, blackberries with a hint of liqueur intensity.

Based on the famous show wines created by the late Max Schubert during the 1960’s. is is our take on this classic Australian blend. Vineyards sited in alluvial deposits along the banks of the Gawler River set the scene for this elegant, supple and fleshy wine.
